As branch manager covering Manchester, Liverpool and Belfast, Janet has a wide remit with overall responsibility for cases handled by the firm’s lawyers in those offices. Janet also runs Thompsons Solicitors’ National Foreign Jurisdiction division - a team of lawyers who help those involved in accidents abroad – whether on holiday or on business.
As well as overseeing cases run by Thompsons’ North West-based lawyers, Janet is responsible for client relations, business development and for more than 160 of the firm’s staff across the region. With a multi-million pound budget, she works to grow the firm, actively promoting its ethos and enhancing its reputation as the firm that care about workers.
To ensure the highest possible standard of client service and care, Janet invests time and effort in the professional development of Thompsons’ lawyers, making sure they are highly trained in their specialist fields. She is meticulous and focussed on getting the very best out of the firm’s professionals. The region’s specialist units deal with personal injury, criminal services, asbestos-related diseases, clinical negligence, serious injury, foreign jurisdiction and has a multi-task serious accident team.
Janet joined Thompsons in 2000 as a personal injury lawyer, dealing with accidents, limb amputations and fatalities, before taking on high-value asbestos-related disease cases. In 2011, Janet was appointed as the firm’s West Midlands-based branch office manager, before taking up her current role in May 2015.
Janet finds her job rewarding, varied and interesting, in a firm with a difference - in that it only acts for claimants, and never for insurance companies or employers. Proud of the way that Thompsons works to challenge unfair practices, she has been actively engaged in the firm’s Small Claims Big Impact campaign to champion consumers’ rights.
In her spare time, Janet can be found walking and enjoying the outdoors with friends and family.
Janet is a member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL).
