In Living Wage Week 2019 Thompsons Solicitors is pleased to announce it has secured official accreditation from the Living Wage Foundation as a real Living Wage employer.

“Securing Living Wage Accredited status was important to us as a principled employer, and fits with Thompsons’ ethos of protecting workers’ rights and promoting social justice,” explained Michelle Cronin, People, Finance and Infrastructure Director at Thompsons.

“We retendered our cleaning contract to make sure that as a firm we only work with organisations who are able to go on record with a genuine commitment to paying people the real living wage.”

What is the ‘real living wage’?

The Living Wage Foundation announces an independently-calculated ‘real living wage’ each year based on what people need to get by. It encourages responsible leadership by asking employers that can afford to do so to ensure they pay employees a wage that meets the cost of living, not just the government minimum.
