Lawyers representing victims of the jailed nurse Lucy Letby have called for a thorough and urgent investigation following news that in a separate investigation in Gosport, detectives have identified 24 suspects in their investigation into hundreds of deaths that occurred at the Gosport War Memorial Hospital between 1987 and 2001.

“The families in Gosport have waited far too long for answers about the tragic deaths of their loved ones. We acknowledge the scope of the investigation, but this process must now move forward with urgency and with the full and transparent cooperation of the Trust involved.
“These families have already shown extraordinary patience and deserve justice and accountability. We urge Kent Police and the CPS to act swiftly to resolve these cases. It is crucial that those responsible for these appalling failures are held accountable and that the families receive the answers and closure they have sought for so many years.”
Thompsons Solicitors represents victims who were affected by crimes currently being investigated by the public inquiry into Letby’s crimes currently taking place in Liverpool. The inquiry is looking into how she was able to murder and attack babies at the neonatal unit at the Countess of Chester Hospital.
Thompsons have added their support for the families calling for a judge-led ‘Hillsborough-style’ inquest into the Gosport allegations, believing this would be an effective step towards providing a comprehensive and transparent understanding of the circumstances surrounding these deaths.
