The claimant was a painter and finisher of RAF planes in the run up to the first Gulf war.
A workplace car park was made of loose chippings. The defendant, a Borough Council, had hoped to smooth it over with tarmac but had run out of funds.
A settlement of £828,000, after allowing for 20 per cent contributory negligence.
