“Baroness Cumberlege’s recommendations offer the possibility of real reform, but it must be swift, real and properly resourced, with ‘new’ money not taken from already committed funds.

“Any changes must apply to both the NHS and private health care sector, and the task force must include those affected. The Redress Agency and the Patient Safety Commissioner must not become a bureaucracy in which victims get lost or patronised.

 “Our clients have faced rejection and belittlement, while wracked with pain. An apology is long overdue.  What those who have suffered for so long deserve is decisive action that leads to real change, starting today.”
