Thompsons Solicitors, the UK’s most experienced personal injury and trade union law firm, has appointed a new National Coordinator of Serious Injury claims to work with the firm’s six regional serious injury teams.

Thompsons has more than 90 years experience of working exclusively for injured people and has acted in major injury cases throughout its history, but formally established a unit in the 1970’s to represent victims of catastrophic injuries such as spinal cord damage, brain injuries and amputations.

Coordinating training and supervision for all of the serious injury specialists at Thompsons

Simon Wilson will be based in Leeds and manage his own case load of serious injury clients while his national role will include coordinating training and supervision for all of the serious injury specialists at Thompsons.

Simon will work closely with the law firm’s Head of Serious Injury, Peter Mulhern on operational and business development to ensure the continued growth of Thompsons’ serious injury teams.

Simon brings nearly 20 years’ experience of serious injuries to the team. He joins from Slater & Gordon where he was Head of Serious Injury for the North of England, prior to which he was partner at Morrish Solicitors in Leeds where he forged strong relationships with trade unions and headed their serious injuries and catastrophic injuries departments.

Dealt with high value brain and spinal injury litigation cases

Throughout his career, Simon has routinely dealt with high value brain and spinal injury litigation cases, reaching multi-million pound settlements.

Commenting on his appointment, Simon said: “The very nature of serious injury cases means they need to be handled by experienced lawyers who have the skills and strategic knowledge to work to their clients’ individual needs, case by case.

“To be representing trade unions and their members again is like coming home – I’ve spent nearly 20 years specialising in serious injuries cases for unions. It’s what I love doing and I’ll be bringing this enthusiasm to the team.”

Head of Serious Injury at Thompsons

Head of Serious Injury at Thompsons, Peter Mulhern said: “Reforms in the personal injury market mean that firms with no track record are trying to move into serious injuries, but they lack the specialist experience. Simon is an excellent lawyer with a proven track record who has a made a big commitment throughout his career to work for those with brain and spinal injuries. His appointment demonstrates Thompsons commitment to the cases and consolidates our experience.”
