A train driver secured almost £16,000 in compensation after being seriously injured when a driver failed to give way at a mini roundabout.
Bryan, an ASLEF member, was cycling behind a friend when a car drove into his path without giving way. The impact threw him over the bonnet, cracking the windscreen before he landed heavily on the road.
Emergency services attended the scene and Bryan required hospital treatment for his injuries. His bicycle was written off, and his helmet was badly damaged.
Bryan suffered multiple injuries, including to his elbow, neck, back, shoulder, hip, thigh, knee, ribs, chest and abdomen. He also experienced travel anxiety and flashbacks following the collision.
The injuries had a significant impact on his day-to-day life. He was unable to return to work for three months and had to rely heavily on support from his family during his recovery.
Perhaps most upsettingly, Bryan’s daughter was due to get married just six weeks after the accident, and the family’s plans were significantly affected as a result of his injuries.
Our team took on the driver responsible for the accident and worked to secure compensation which reflected both the physical and psychological impact on Bryan.
Bryan recovered almost £16,000 in damages. This included compensation for his injuries as well as the cost of replacing his bicycle.
As an ASLEF member, Bryan also benefited from union-backed legal support, meaning there were no deductions from his compensation - he kept 100% of the damages recovered.
Cases such as Bryan’s show how quickly life can change after a cycling accident – and why it’s important to have the right support to help you recover and move forward.
