Background

Jackie is part of Thompsons’ Solicitors personal injury team, specialising in asbestos-related disease claims, working in the London office.

With 14 years’ personal injury experience, Jackie joined the highly-regarded asbestos disease team five years’ ago. Dealing solely with all asbestos-related disease claims that come into the London office, Jackie’s knowledge and expertise of the progress of such diseases enables her to gain the best possible compensation for her clients. Her case-load includes claims for asbestos-related diseases such as pleural thickening, asbestosis, lung cancer and mesothelioma.

A diagnosis of an asbestos-related illness can be traumatic and devastating for clients and their families. Jackie approaches them with compassionate professionalism, guiding them through the High Court process, visiting them at home, patiently explaining all the options, getting the best medical advice and negotiating interim payments.

Although Jackie aims to reach settlement during the lifetime of clients, many cases can take time and continue after their death. Jackie’s sensitivity in dealing with bereaved members of the family and her care for their welfare is highly valued.

As a determined champion of the rights of her clients and their families, Jackie will doggedly pursue employers and insurance companies who deny liability and seek to shirk their responsibilities. As exposure to asbestos usually manifests itself as a disease 40 to 50 years down the line, tracking down companies that may be defunct or have been taken over, or their liability insurers, requires Jackie’s excellent detective skills. Jackie never gives up.

Thompsons ethos of working only for individuals is what, Jackie says, allows her and colleagues to achieve a good outcome for clients as they always go the extra mile.

When not at work, Jackie likes to go to the theatre, the cinema, socialise with friends, and care for her three cats.

  • Recovered damages for man who contracted mesothelioma after working a Saturday job as a young boy in a factory which manufactured asbestos.
  • Won substantial damages in the High Court for the sister of a man who contracted pleural thickening, and then mesothelioma, whose former employers denied liability.
