Based at Thompsons Solicitors’ Manchester office, Suzanne Humphries is a highly respected senior lawyer with managerial responsibility for colleagues taking serious injury and clinical negligence cases and claims involving foreign jurisdictions and cross border litigation.

Having qualified as a chartered legal executive in 1997, Suzanne uses her experience to manage other lawyers who are often involved in cases resulting in multi-million pound settlements.

The claims, taken by clients from all over the north west of England, can involve devastating and life-changing injuries sustained in accidents at work or on the road, and in cases where occupiers’ liability is invoked. Some clients are suffering from multiple orthopaedic injuries, amputations and trauma to the spine or brain.

Other cases centre on foreign travel or where foreign nationals are involved, while other claims have arisen from injuries caused by clinical negligence.

Suzanne has a wide range of experience in personal injury and industrial disease claims, both as a frontline lawyer and a manager.

Suzanne ensures that clients receive the highest possible standard of legal representation, but is also at pains to ensure claimants, inevitably experiencing one of the most stressful periods of their lives, are treated with sensitivity and respect. Every effort is expended to secure interim compensation payments to help with the client’s rehabilitation.

Part of her managerial responsibility is to develop the expertise of lawyers in her unit and to maintain the quality of Thompsons’ services through intelligent recruitment.

Suzanne is proud of Thompsons’ commitment to achieving justice for working people and its insistence on exclusively representing the injured party rather than those who may be responsible for the injuries or their insurance companies.

In her spare time Suzanne likes reading, walking, Yoga and spending as much time as she can with her family.

This a small sample of the claims taken by Suzanne:

Suzanne secured six figure damages for 31-year-old scaffolder Craig Cording who was left with a permanent disability after scaffolding poles fell on him, severely damaging his right leg. Despite an operation Craig lost the feeling in his foot and lower leg and will be forced to take pain-killers for the rest of his life.

Keen to get back to work, Craig retrained as a welder and has subsequently found employment. He can no longer ride motocross bikes, but he has found other sports to keep him fit.

The settlement was agreed with ThyssenKrupp after Thompsons discovered that the pallet containing the poles did not meet industry safety standards and had been over-filled.

Suzanne secured six-figure damages for a man who was severely burnt in a chemical blast at work. The payout also compensated the client for the long term psychological damage he had suffered.

A six-figure settlement was negotiated by Suzanne in a complex case involving a client who suffered live-changing pelvic and urological injuries together with long term mobility and psychiatric problems.

Suzanne secured compensation for school class room assistants who suffered severe breathing problems following negligent exposure to bromide.
