Based at Thompsons Solicitors’ Manchester office, Suzanne Humphries is a highly-respected senior lawyer with managerial responsibility for asbestos, medical negligence and foreign jurisdictions and cross border litigation teams.
Having qualified as a chartered legal executive in 1997, Suzanne uses her experience to manage other lawyers, often involved in cases resulting in multi-million pound settlements.
The cases include include medical negligence claims involving amputations, vaginal mesh implants, birth injuries, brain trauma, chronic pain and delays in the diagnosis of cancer.
The work of the foreign jurisdiction and cross border claims teams centres on disease and accident claims that occur during holidays abroad or while clients are working overseas, and in this jurisdiction but where there is a foreign dimension to the claim. The accidents can involve transport of all kinds, accidents on oil rigs and offshore platforms, and diving accidents. The team has experience in representing clients who have sustained major injuries to the brain and spine, or where the accidents have resulted in amputations or serious burns. Â
Suzanne also manages the asbestos litigation team of lawyers who fight for compensation exclusively for those people damaged by working with or being exposed to asbestos, including cases of mesothelioma, lung cancer and pleural thickening.Â
Suzanne has a wide range of experience in personal injury and industrial disease claims, both as a frontline lawyer and a manager. She ensures that clients receive the highest possible standard of legal representation, but is also at pains to ensure claimants, inevitably experiencing one of the most stressful periods of their lives, are treated with sensitivity and respect. Every effort is expended to secure interim compensation payments to help with the client’s rehabilitation.
Part of her managerial responsibility is to develop the expertise of lawyers in her unit and to maintain the quality of Thompsons’ services through intelligent recruitment.
Suzanne is proud of Thompsons’ commitment to achieving justice for working people and its insistence on exclusively representing the injured party rather than those who may be responsible for the injuries or their insurance companies.
In her spare time Suzanne enjoys spending time with her family, experiencing live music and theatre, and reading.
