Her clients are normally suffering from soft tissue damage or orthopaedic injuries sustained in road accidents. Caroline also has considerable expertise in cases where injuries have been sustained at work or through assault. Her work on “fast-track” cases means that the compensation she wins for clients is normally around £10,000 to £25,000.
Caroline originally worked as a paralegal before qualifying as a solicitor in 2010, joining Thompsons in 2017. She says her decision to join the firm was based on its commitment to represent those who have been injured rather those who may be responsible for it or their insurance companies.
In her leisure time, Caroline is a regular attendee at the local park run and has completed 10k events and the Great North Run on behalf of charities.
Caroline’s case experience
Road traffic accident claim: A young man suffered Post Traumatic Stress Disorder after the vehicle he owned, but in which he was a passenger, was struck by a car travelling at excessive speed on the motorway. The client’s vehicle ended up being hit by a lorry as it careered out of control. His arms and hands were permanently scarred in the accident, and a long-term injury to his wrist is expected to limit his future employment. His car was written off. Caroline secured a settlement of £37,000.
Road traffic accident claim: In another motorway accident, a 25-year-old woman suffered serious injuries to her ankle, knee, neck and ribs. The car, in which she was a passenger, had been struck by another vehicle travelling above the speed limit. Caroline obtained a £50,000 settlement for her client.
Workplace assault claim: A female staff member at a special needs school suffered orthopaedic and psychological injuries and was unable to return to work after being assaulted by a pupil. The school immediately denied liability, but Caroline negotiated £12,500 compensation before the case went to trial.
One of Caroline’s clients said: “I would just like to thank Thompsons Solicitors for dealing with my case. 100 per cent professional.”
Another client said: “My case took a little over 12 months. Caroline communicated with me well and was able to constructively articulate the process of my case and the next procedures. A very friendly person who at the time of my case showed sympathy to my case and took care of her client in the process. I'm very happy that she defended my case.”
