Expert military claims lawyer, David Robinson, comments on the report
Statistics released by the Ministry of Defence have shown a worrying increase in the number of service personnel injured during training accidents.
Military service is not easy and involves situations which impose inherent risks to health and safety. However, the report has revealed that training accidents account for over half of all injuries.
David Robinson, specialist military claims solicitor at Thompsons Solicitors, said: “It is absolutely staggering that in a controlled environment such as training that so many accidents are happening. I have acted for countless individuals injured in such circumstances and yet despite the repeated failings, as backed up by these statistics, it seems like the Ministry of Defence is not recognising the problem and is failing to join up the dots.
“The Ministry of Defence needs to wake up to the problem of training accidents and urgently review its practice and procedures across all areas to reduce the foreseeable risks it is exposing our service personnel to.”
