A man in his 60s has died following a collision at the junction of the A19 and the A163 in Barlby near Selby.

The incident is the fourth fatality as a result of road accidents in North Yorkshire in just two days.

Three other people lost their lives on the county’s roads including a 45 year-old male motorcyclist, a 65 year-old female driver and a 60 year-old male motorcyclist.

A further two people suffered serious injuries while three received minor injuries in the incidents that took place over the weekend.

David Robinson, a solicitor who specialises in serious road traffic accident claims in the North East, said: “It is alarming that so many people have been killed and seriously injured in road traffic accidents in one area within such a short period of time.

“The incidents highlight the shattering impact that road traffic accidents have on thousands of people in the UK every year.

“At Thompsons Solicitors we deal with cases where people's injuries are so severe that they require comprehensive care for the rest of their lives.

“We feel for those families who have lost a loved one and hope that any others involved quickly get the right support and effective rehabilitation.
