According to the BBC, internal documents suggest that patients treated at the hospital may have suffered avoidable harm during or after transcatheter aortic valve implant (TAVI) surgery — a commonly performed procedure to replace a damaged heart valve. It is further alleged that in some cases, medical staff failed to record or disclose complications on the patients’ death certificates.

Thompsons is currently representing several individuals who have raised serious concerns about the care they received at Castle Hill Hospital. The firm has welcomed news of the police investigation and is calling for urgent action to ensure that lessons are learned and that patient safety is placed front and centre.

Helen Rundle, a clinical negligence lawyer at Thompsons Solicitors, said: “Every patient has the right to expect safe and competent care. The emerging reports raise deeply troubling questions about clinical practice and transparency. We welcome the police investigation and hope it prompts a thorough review, accountability where necessary, and meaningful improvements to protect future patients.”

Anyone who has concerns about their care at Castle Hill Hospital is encouraged to seek independent legal advice.
