Two personal injury solicitors at social justice law firm, Thompsons Solicitors, have been recognised for their expertise after being shortlisted for the South Wales Law Awards.

Cardiff and Llanelli-based Amanda Jones has been nominated for two awards – Solicitor of the Year and Personal Injury Law Services of the Year – in recognition of her work in asbestos litigation, supporting families whose lives have been devastated following the diagnosis of asbestos diseases, such as mesothelioma.

Alongside her in the nominations for Personal Injury Law Services of the Year is Lisa Gunner, who supports victims of serious injury and medical negligence across South Wales.

Award recognition isn’t new for the duo, who were both named as finalists at last year’s national Personal Injury Awards.

Catherine Cladingbowl, regional manager for Wales and South West at Thompsons, said: “I am delighted to see both Amanda and Lisa gain further recognition for their excellence.

“Since the formation of Thompsons Solicitors 100 years ago, our core ethos has been to fight for the injured and mistreated – never the employer or the insurer – ensuring they receive the maximum compensation possible. Amanda and Lisa embody this approach in support of their clients.”

The South Wales Law Awards were founded to recognise and celebrate outstanding achievements of the Welsh law community. It is hoped that the event will take place at the Hilton Hotel in Cardiff on Friday 24 September, depending on COVID-19 restrictions.

Wesley Skene, organiser of the awards, said: “The South Wales Law Awards would like to congratulate Amanda Jones and Lisa Gunner of Thompsons Solicitors on very well deserved nominations. The number and standard of applications was incredibly high. To be nominated is already an enormous achievement. We are looking forward to seeing all the nominees at the upcoming South Wales Law Awards gala ceremony at the Hilton Hotel in Cardiff.”

Ms Cladingbowl added: “I’m delighted that, yet again, the dedication of our colleagues for standing up for working people is being recognised, and I wish them the best of luck in the ceremony later this year.”
