Lung Cancer Claims

Inhalation of asbestos dust can increase the risk of contracting lung cancer. However, it can be difficult to prove that a client’s lung cancer is caused by exposure to asbestos because there are a number of other factors which can cause the disease, most commonly smoking.

If a lung cancer patient is already suffering from asbestosis, it is usually accepted by the legal and medical profession that the cancer was caused by asbestos. However, in other cases where asbestosis is not present, then it must be proved that the claimant has suffered prolonged or heavy occupational asbestos exposure.

Generally, lung cancer symptoms include a long term cough, being short of breath, loss of appetite and weight loss. Lung cancer can be treated with a combination of treatments including chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and surgery.

Our expert solicitors carry out thorough research to establish the levels of asbestos a client has been exposed to, in order to pursue successful claims for asbestos-induced lung cancer.
