Based in Thompsons Solicitors’ Liverpool office, Helen is a highly regarded solicitor specialising in representing clients with serious diseases contracted through exposure to asbestos.

Taking claims from all over the North West, Helen’s caseload involves a range of illnesses including asbestosis, diffuse pleural thickening, asbestos-related lung cancer and the invariably fatal mesothelioma.

Where clients unfortunately die before damages are secured, Helen will progress the case to secure damages for loved ones. She is aware that there can be severe time pressure on claims and she attempts to expedite matters so that the claimant will know that his or her family will be financially secure after their death.

Helen started working for Thompsons in 2002 and went on to complete her training contract with the firm before qualifying in in 2004.

One of the reasons she has remained with Thompsons is its insistence on exclusively representing the injured party, rather than those responsible for causing the illness or their insurance companies.

In her spare time, Helen holds an Everton FC season ticket and watches them both home and away. Helen also likes to travel.

Helen's case experience

  • Secured provisional settlement for former welder, Ronald Smith, who had been diagnosed with asbestosis after working for a ship building company for 37 years. Ronald can reopen his claim if his condition deteriorates.
  • Secured a provisional settlement for a journeyman and patternmaker who was exposed to asbestos for more than 20 years and developed asbestosis and plural thickening as a result.
