Our client injured their knee after falling on a wet floor sign that should have been out of the way.
At Thompsons we have almost a century of experience of dealing with claims against employers in a range of work situations. This week’s case comes from a prison setting where our client was at the time a former Prison Officer and a member of the Prison Officers’ Association, when he slipped on a folded wet floor sign which had been out of sight at the bottom of a staircase but still protruded in to the walkway.
The fall caused such a bad injury to our client’s knee that he had to medically retire from his position.
Angela Staples, from Thompsons Solicitors’ Nottingham Office, said: “This injury has left our client unable to return to his old job and has left him disadvantaged in the jobs market. He now has to settle for work that no longer requires heavy manual labour or prolonged standing or walking.
“Union members are not charged fees for the legal support we provide them, win or lose, meaning 100 per cent of the compensation went to the former prison officer when he needed it most.”
