Thompsons Solicitors has successfully represented tens of thousands of people who have been diagnosed with asbestos disease
More than £2 million has been secured in damages in one month by Thompsons Solicitors for people and their families affected by asbestos-related diseases.
In April 2017, £2,056,983 in compensation was secured for clients by Thompsons’ team of specialist lawyers, who deal exclusively with claims for asbestos-related disease.
Asbestos is the biggest cause of work-related deaths in the UK, with many people now suffering from illnesses such as mesothelioma and pleural thickening, as a result of exposure in the 1950s, 60s and 70s.
Thompsons Solicitors brought the first successful case for asbestos disease in the UK to the House of Lords, in 1972, and has gone on to secure compensation for tens of thousands of individuals affected by asbestos exposure, and their families.
"Unfortunately, the number of people diagnosed with asbestos-related disease is expected to continue to rise until 2020. Anyone who is diagnosed should get in touch with our team for free legal support and expert advice."
Ian McFall, head of asbestos litigation at Thompsons Solicitors, said: “We are proud of the work we do for people suffering with devastating asbestos-related illnesses, such as mesothelioma, pleural thickening, lung cancer and asbestosis.
“These illnesses take years to develop and most of our clients were unwittingly exposed to them decades ago while going about their daily work.
“We fight hard to ensure they receive the maximum amount of compensation, as quickly as possible, and work closely with trade unions and charities to ensure they can access the support and care they need.

Asbestos disease diagnosis? Talk to us for advice and support on how to secure compensation.
If you or a loved one have been diagnosed with an asbestos-related disease, we can support you with advice on how to make a claim.
The process will be explained in plain English and with no obligation – our priority is to provide you with the best, expert advice on whether you have a valid case for compensation, and to signpost you to further sources of support.
There are strict time limits applied to making a claim – usually three years from the date of diagnosis. It doesn’t matter if the exposure to asbestos took place – as it often does – decades ago, the three year time limit applies to the date of knowledge of diagnosis or date of death.
