A fundraising day is to be held across all branches of Thompsons Solicitors on Friday 27 April, to raise money for the charity Mesothelioma UK.
Mesothelioma UK is dedicated to providing specialist information, support and education to improve treatment and care for all mesothelioma victims in the UK. The charity also ensures that specialist mesothelioma nursing is available for those who need it, by integrating into NHS front line services.
Thompsons’ offices across England and Wales will be dressing down at work and running other fundraising activities on the day to support the charity. Donations will go to Mesothelioma UK’s resource centre and national helpline for mesothelioma victims and their loved ones, providing details of local support groups, advice on benefits and information regarding clinical trials.
As a free, specialist service, Mesothelioma UK aims to raise awareness and provide vital support to all of those affected by the disease but is reliant on donations to keep their valuable work going.
Asbestos-disease specialists at Thompsons have been providing support and fighting hard to secure compensation for individuals and their families affected by this disease since running the first ever successful asbestos case in 1972. The firm is closely connected to the charity at a national and local level, with teams seeing first-hand the difficulties faced by individuals who have been affected by mesothelioma.
"Mesothelioma UK is an outstanding charity dedicated to improving the life and experience of those affected by mesothelioma. We are proud to support the incredible work of this charity, to ensure that they can continue providing invaluable support and resources."
Catherine Cladingbowl, the branch manager for Thompsons’ Cardiff and Bristol offices and personal injury solicitor said: “Mesothelioma is a devastating disease which sadly affects thousands of individuals every year in the UK and we are motivated to continue raising awareness.
“At Thompsons Solicitors, we support many families and individuals who have been affected by mesothelioma to obtain the maximum amount of compensation available. A vital area of our work involves working closely with asbestos victim support groups.

Asbestos disease diagnosis? Talk to us for advice and support on how to secure compensation.
If you or a loved one have been diagnosed with an asbestos-related disease, we can support you with advice on how to make a claim.
The process will be explained in plain English and with no obligation – our priority is to provide you with the best, expert advice on whether you have a valid case for compensation, and to signpost you to further sources of support.
There are strict time limits applied to making a claim – usually three years from the date of diagnosis. It doesn’t matter if the exposure to asbestos took place – as it often does – decades ago, the three year time limit applies to the date of knowledge of diagnosis or date of death.
