How Thompsons Supports Clients With Brain Injuries

At Thompsons, we understand how life-changing a brain injury can be.
Our serious injury specialists have decades of experience supporting individuals and families through complex and traumatic circumstances. Our focus is always on:

  • Accessing rehabilitation and care as early as possible
  • Providing clear, pressure-free advice
  • Helping you understand your options in plain language
  • Supporting your choices — whenever you feel ready

Some people want early reassurance around legal or practical matters. Others prefer to wait until things feel more settled. Either approach is completely okay.
We’re here when you want to speak to us, not before.

Client Stories & Testimonials

You can read real experiences from people we’ve supported after life-changing injury:

Patrick's Story

Patrick was working on a scaffolding gantry when it gave way; he fell 23 feet to the ground. His injuries were so severe that his family was told he would not survive. Hear more about Patrick's story and how Thompsons helped him below.

Joseph's Story

In July 2016, at just 17 years old, Joseph was involved in a severe industrial accident at a factory in Washington. An electrical cabinet, weighing approximately a quarter of a tonne, fell on him, causing a traumatic head injury. The injuries Joseph sustained have left a lasting impact on his eyesight, taste, hearing, balance, and speech. Despite these challenges, he set his sights on rebuilding his life, turning to his newfound passion for comic books. Our legal team worked diligently to secure interim payments, ensuring Joseph could access the specialist therapies and equipment essential for his recovery while his claim against his former employer was still pending. Thanks to the secured funds, Joseph accessed comprehensive rehabilitation services, including a residential stay at Calvert Reconnections in Cumbria and specialised physiotherapy at Optimise Neuro Rehabilitation Centre Crawcrook. Living in a shared student house with the support of a dedicated care team, Joseph is optimistic about his future. He is working towards his goal of publishing an online graphic novel. Reflecting on his journey, Joseph expressed gratitude for the unwavering support from our team, which was instrumental in his university success.

Rehabilitation and support

As well as providing expert legal advice and representation, we also work closely with brain injury specialists who provide additional support to our clients, including:

  • Case managers who coordinate rehabilitation care
  • Support workers who help patients and their families at home and in the community
  • Disability architects who adapt an individual’s surroundings, such as their home
  • Occupational and other therapists who help with an individual’s recovery
  • Job coaches to assist those able to return to work.
