Brain injury survivors and specialists from across the UK will meet at Headway’s annual ‘The Way Ahead’ conference from Friday 5th July to Sunday 7th July 2019.

Headway, the brain injury association, works with victims to improve life after brain injury and every year hosts the conference for survivors, family members, carers, trustees, committee members, staff and volunteers to get together. Thompsons has sponsored the Headway conference since 2015.

The Way Ahead conference, which takes place at Yarnfield Park Conference Centre in Staffordshire, is proudly sponsored by Thompsons Solicitors and gives delegates the opportunity to meet a variety of people affected by brain injuries, in a safe and friendly environment.

This years’ conference features keynote speakers including Dr. Audrey Daisley, a consultant clinical neuropsychologist at the Oxford Centre for Enablement, and with Nicola Hughes, chair of Headway Darlington, whose husband is a brain injury survivor. Chris Bryant MP, a champion of those of affected by brain injury in Parliament will also be speaking, as well as Kirstie Brookman from Cifas, an organisation which protects vulnerable people from financial crime.

In addition, Headway has organised workshops, therapies and activities for delegates on a variety of brain injury related topics. Serious injury specialists from Thompsons will also be at the conference to discuss any legal concerns that head injury survivors and their families may have.

Thompsons works closely with Headway to ensure brain injury clients receive information, services and rehabilitation long after their claim has ended, as well as supporting the successful brain injury identity card scheme set up by the charity to help police officers and staff more easily identify brain injury survivors.

Samantha Hemsley, national head of the serious injury team at Thompsons Solicitors said: “We are proud to support The Way Ahead conference again this year and to continue our close partnership with Headway. This conference provides a brilliant opportunity for those affected by brain injuries to engage and learn from specialists and build a support network.

“Headway provides a vital service, including assisting brain injury survivors, their families and carers with information, support and services. Through our work and close links with Headway we have seen first-hand the difference they make to victims of brain injury.”
