Rachel's case experience

Asbestos claim: Rachel’s client had previously settled a case for asbestosis on a provisional basis so that the claim could be reopened if his condition significantly worsened. After three years, the client returned to Thompsons due to a deterioration in his health. Although the medical evidence Rachel gathered was supportive of the new claim a settlement was not offered. After issuing court proceedings, Rachel secured for her client a settlement of £20,000, in addition to the sum already received, without the need for a trial.

Mesothelioma claim: Rachel’s client was exposed to asbestos while in the Merchant Navy and was subsequently diagnosed with mesothelioma. Rachel carried out extensive research to identify the insurer responsible, which can be very difficult in cases involving the Merchant Navy, and secured a six figure settlement. Sadly, the claimant died shortly before the case was resolved and the settlement went to his family.

Rachel’s former client said: “Every time I phoned with a query (Rachel) spoke to me with courtesy and care and put me at ease. I am happy with the letter I have just received explaining everything to me. Thank you very much for your service.”
