Assistant executive Matthew is part of Thompsons Solicitors’ Serious Injury Team and is based in Manchester.

Working on cases across the North West region, Matthew assists senior solicitors on serious injury cases, which often involve brain and spinal cord injuries, amputations and poly-trauma.

Matthew also runs a small caseload of his own that comprises of lower value head injury claims.

Thompsons’ strong emphasis on client rehabilitation and active role in ensuring that claimants get the right treatment and support make Matthew proud to work at the firm.

For Matthew, the most rewarding aspect of working at Thompsons is playing a part in the process of helping clients recover after they have suffered a serious injury.

Outside of work, Matthew plays the drums and is passionate about making and recording music. Matthew is also a keen cook and likes to get out into the countryside as often as possible. 


Road traffic accident claim: Matthew assisted on the case of a former youth development manager who suffered a significant head injury and psychological trauma after he was knocked off his bike by a car. The accident left him with a fracture to his skull as well as multiple spinal fractures. Matthew helped to ensure the man received a substantial financial settlement. 

Accident at work claim: Matthew was part of the legal team that represented a man who was left in chronic pain and unable to work after a workplace crush injury. The man was employed as a mechanical fitter by a recycling firm and was injured when a one-tonne steel plate he was fitting fell on him. With Matthew’s assistance the team were able to secure a six-figure compensation package for their client.
