Based at Thompsons Solicitors’ Manchester centre, Nicola Simmons is a highly respected senior solicitor dealing with serious injury claims of £25,000 and above.

Covering the whole of the North West, Nicola represents clients who have suffered from a range of injuries, from trauma to the brain, to physical injuries including amputation. Most cases involve accidents on the road or at work and can involve occupiers’ liability.

In a 20-year legal career as a solicitor Nicola has represented clients suffering from industrial diseases, dog bites and injuries sustained on holiday and involving foreign jurisdictions. Her cases have often involved occupiers’ and employers’ liability.

Nicola always seeks to provide the best possible representation for her clients and believes they should be treated with the utmost care and respect.

Nicola says she is proud to work alongside colleagues at Thompsons who put the client at the centre of everything they do.

In her spare time she puts a great deal of effort into the charity she created in memory of her daughter which helps people to come to terms with bereavement through meditation and yoga. When she can, she loves to travel abroad.

Nicola has an enviable track record in securing the highest possible compensation for clients who have lost limbs.

Nicola secured damages of £250,000 for a client who lost the tip of his thumb in a tarmacking machine which was not equipped with a suitable safety guard. While management conceded that it was liable for the accident, they argued that Nicola’s client had contributed to it and therefore compensation should be limited. Nicola successfully argued against the employer and achieved a settlement which gave full recompense for the injury, its effect on her client’s quality of life and its psychological impact. The sum also covered the cost of a specially-designed prosthetic, made available through a specialist company with which Nicola works very closely to ensure each client’s individual needs are at the forefront.

In one case Nicola had to fight off an attempt to dissolve a building company in order to avoid paying compensation to an amputee. Eventually with the help of the Health and Safety Executive she recovered £850,000 for the client who lost his leg while working for the defendant. The sum covered the partial  loss of the limb, the pain the client had suffered and the impact on his quality of life, plus the cost of a prosthetic.*
